I am looking into a 68 GT390 motor seller states it's from a 68 cougar and was special ordered with a factory 2bl intake. States it has the GT 390 heads and exhaust manifolds. gave me a head # of C6AE-R. My question is what can I look for to know I am getting a real 68 GT390 engine??? I have a BB book but it is confusing,
Thanks

FWIW, this "special order" 2V 390 may just be the X-code engine. From what I've been told at the fomoco.com FE forum, the x-code has the 390 GT heads, but a less aggressive cam. I think the 2V is 280 hp, compared to 325 hp for the 4V. To convert the x-code to s-code specs requires the 4v intake, 4v carb and cam (again, this is what I've been told).
