I just took the steering box out of my 68 coupe because it was leaking. The lower needle bearings fell out. Are they supposed to be loose like a u-joint or are they supposed to be caged? Mustangs unlimited sells what they call a lower bushing, is that what they are calling a bearing? Also, where can i get a new seal and bearing for it? Thanks, John

I just rebuilt mine this summer with bearings and seals from Virginia Mustang, probably the same parts that Mustang Unlimited has.

I had the same questions as you did. The bushings have all the needle bearings in them.

And yes, they are loose just like a u-joint. I also had mine fall out, and I was being very carefull, they're easy to lose.
