On my 69 302 Fastback, I get noises from my rear suspension when driving slowly over small bumps. It is not a knocking noise or anything like that, but more a creaking noise. It is not overly loud, but I do notice it.

The rear suspension uses the standard shackles but has polyurethane bushes which have been greased, so I am confident this is not making the noise.

The leaf springs all look okay and the metal clamps are all present with their rubber insulators and the plastic pads at the end of the leaves are all present. But the leaves are all bone dry with surface rust on them. Could this be the problem? Do I need to lubricate them with oil or something? Or is it normal for creaking noises from the rear suspension?
