Iam renovating a 69 Fastback. Factory included an 8" 2.79 Rearend. Iam wondering what the out-to-out length is on the rearend, and if a late 80's, early 90's GT disc rearend could be easily installed. I know that plates would need to be welded on to allow for the leaf springs. Except for that, any other unforseen items???

instead of going that route, why not look for a 9 inch that will bolt in to your 69? they are fairly common and the late model Explorer disc brake is almost a bolt on, no brainer setup.....

I would personally recomend the early style rear ends go for a 9 inch

it will be less troublesome and cheaper in the long run.

ANd...parts for a 9 inch are much more plentiful than the 8.8 or 8 inch.

good luck

I've got a 9 inch out of a 69 i'm looking to get rid of. It's not a disk brake rear end but it will bolt right up. It has an open diff. with 3.25 gears. let me know if your interested.

Thanks,
Brian
