If the kickdown linkage is missing on the car won't it keep the transmission from shifting correctly and make it shift too soon? I was told this a long time ago and I haven't checked my latest purchase but I beleive it to be missing as I have the quick 2-3 up shift problem as I did one time on a car missing it a while ago. This is a 351/4 bbl witha fmx tranny in a 69 tang Thanks!

No sir, the kickdown won't do anything, as long as it's not stuck in the down position. I see cars with missing kick downs/disconnected kickdowns all the time, and the transmission works fine. The quick shifts have to do with the way the vacuum modulator is adjusted.

The kickdown linkage is operating a pressure valve inside the transmission. It will affect your shifting. Your quick shift can be the result of the linkage missing. I may have one off a 71 that you can have but I need to check with the guy thats buying my motor, if he doesn't need it you can have it...
