Hello forum members,

I am wrapping up a long, long, long running restoration of my 69 Mach 1.

The final item is wheel and tires. I will be installing Magnum 500 steel chrome wheels.
Front Wheels: 15x7
Rear Wheels: 15x8

I am looking for the widest wheel/tire combo that will not rub the fenders or suspension.

Here are the tire combo options I am reviewing.
Front Tires: P225/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A
Rear tires: P245/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A

Front Tires: P235/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A
Rear tires: P245/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A

Front Tires: P235/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A
Rear tires: P255/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A

Front Tires: P245/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A
Rear tires: P255/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A

Does anyone have any experience with any of these combinations?

I am also open to other tire brands.

Thanks. Norm.

Welcome to VMF.
I assume you know that the factory did not put Magnum 500s on the '69 Mach 1. There was only one wheel available for the '69 M1, the 14" chrome Style Steel Wheel with a trim ring and a dog dish center cap.
You probably already knew that but the title of the thread and your use of the word "restoration" make it appear that you think the Magnum 500 wheel was original to the M1.

On the front if using a 7" wide wheel I would use a 225-60 and on the rear with the 8" wide rim use the 245-60

Thanks. Do you have any pictures of Mach 1/fastback with the front at 7" wide wheel with 225-60 and rear with the at 8" wide with 245-60? I appreciate the feedback. Thank you.

69 Mach1.
I’m currently running 235/60-15 on 15x7 on the front, and 255/60-15 on 15x8 Magnum 500’s on the back. BFG T/A’s.
When I got the car it had 225/60-14 on 15x7 on the front, and 245/60-15 on 15x8 Magnum 500’s on the back.
The 225’s on the front looked a little small to my eye. The 235’s fill up the fender well and I haven’t had any problems rubbing.
This pic was before I lowered the front about 2”.

View attachment 760624 Did the rears require any fender roll to accommodate the 255/ 60 -15 s I the with the 8” rims? Thanks in advance.

Sorry to be so late with a response. Been away for a while.
Not at all.
I‘m running stock springs in the rear with Koni shocks. Not even close.
