Well its been a long wait ... I sold my old coupe (a project car w/lots of engine/suspension work) and received word from the shippers that they are on the way! You can see my old car at : http://www.edotek.com/mustang/mustang.html

Anyhow, I bought the mach for $4000 (all options, 4 spd, etc...) minus engine (Mcode). Which was'nt too bad considering the shape its in.

The problem was shipping ($900) and then I had to get a class III trailer hitch installed ($300), so now I'm waiting for the call tomorrow and I get to drive down and pick it up. About a 4 hour trip (could not find a price that was reasonable to Canada).

JC I'll be glad when this is over. After blowing so much cash I'm just going to do bodywork (sanding mainly, its an Arizona car with great metal) and detail the engine compartment over the next few months. I have buddy coming over with the 351W HO sometime next weekend. Bought an engine stand for $39 (thats CDN too!), over at Princess Auto in Calgary here ..... nice piece actually, 750 lbs should be a good limit?

Well I'm "working from home" tomorrow, so lets keep our fingers crossed and hope the darn thing has'nt fallen off the truck yet :).

One question though .... I am thinking of doing something cool for a paint scheme .. its originally a black on red car, but I was thinking of going with red, yellow or blue on black, and instead of using the blackout hood, doing some hood stripes in my contrast colour (red, yellow or blue), in the form of the 70 boss style,...minus the stripes going down the side tho .... has this been done on a 69 before? I'm hoping for some pictures ... otherwise its off to the model shop to try out different schemes :).

Chris

That Mach must be in some nice shape to sell for that. I wonder why they wanted to get rid of it when all they needed was an engine and some paint? Anyway, It sounds like you're in for some fun! Great deal on the engine stand too! I dunno about the paint scheme... I've never seen it done before. I'm sure it has though. Be ready for people to either laugh at or love it. That's the way it is with those things. IMHO, I'd stay with a dark color if you plan on replacing the black areas. I don't think canary yellow would look good in on the hood and the tailight panel. If you need to know what some of these colors look like on an earlier stang check out this... http://www.geocities.com/GT500KRSTANG/Frontpage.html

Good Luck! Wish I had a Mach 1 /forums/images/icons/mad.gif

I've seen the hood stripe scheme you're talking about on a few '69s here and there. Saw one with the Red on Black ... had both spoilers painted to match, too. Was a really sweet looking car. I saw the Yellow on Black on a coupe once, but haven't seen it on a Sportsroof. And the color was faded pretty bad, so I'm wondering what it would have looked like freshly painted. Anyway, good luck with the car as a whole and the paint in specific.

Ya thats what I was thinking (red on black w/spoilers) ... but I was thinking of doing 3 more things (perhaps):

1. instead of solid red spoilers, do a line trace around them (like line around blackout hood)
2. paint a moderate sized red horse in front grill (like 67/68 stangs)
3. try to get some red tinted aluminum for rockers, like 70's..

just a thought ... I am going to be pretty careful here, one piece at a time (models first), I don't want to look like I'm driving a hotwheels car right outta toys'r'us :).
