I don't recall Ford using manual chokes except on their very early 60's cars...I bet you have a Holley double pumper..many of them came with manual choke connections..it's just a cable thingie then runs to the carb and to your dash..a pretty simple hook up actually

In 69 Ford detuned the 390 to meet emissions (I would guess). So they used the Autolite 4300 carb instead of the Holley 4150 used on the earlier 390 GT. That's why it's called a 390IP in 69 for improved performance. The 4300 is part C9ZF-F. I show a Holley 4150-C for the 69 428 cars. A friend of mine told me he has one with a manual choke which is from a Fairlane. Anyway your 390 should have come with a 4300 carb from the factory.

On my 69 351W the carb is C-9ZFD and is the carb that was originally on the car. I rebuilt it this year with part kit #CT-226-B D3AZ-9A586-A proper Ford kit which are still available. Choke is electric.
