Does anyone know if this applies to the 71-73 mustangs and whether or not the rear disk brake kit that is advertises on ebay for this rear axle will fit my car. Thanks

This kit will bolt to FORD 8" or 9" housing with the small tube and bearing ends

Yes, all Mustang housings have the small bearing tube ends.
