trying to remove the key cylinder on me 73. chilton says to push in the post on the barrel through the hole...found that. says car should be in "on" position...which is that...acc, first click or up to starter??/ Confused. been trying to push post in with a paper clip, then a punch tool...it wont budge. should i just drill it out??? Help me out, PLEASE!

I think they are asking you to turn the key to the on position, which is where it ends up after you go that last notch that cranks the starter. I don't know if that makes sense...on is as far as you can turn key w/o engaging the starter. Once there, you should be able to stick the paperclip in. this pushes a little button and allows you to pull the whole cylinder out by the key. That is how it works on my 70 if my memory serves me right. good luck, tp.

thanks for the help, but i tried all that. its jammed in there ii guess. i use a screwdriver now to start it!
