Last winter i installed a t5 in my stang. I really woke up the whole driving experience. This winter i want to replace the 2.70 open rear with a 3.55 traction lock setup . Has anyone used the Quick Performance 8" trac lock/gear package . It comes with a ford trac lock ,3.55 gears and bearing set for $500

I have the quick performance package. I ordered the 3.80 gear set with the trac lok. The kit came with everything you need.

And if you decide that the 3.55 are not up to your par let me know. I like the 3.8 for quick launch but a bit to much for freeway driving.

Hope that helps.

The tranny has the .68 5th . I have a cobra replica with a tko600 with the .64 and 2.87 first and 3.70 rear gear and its a bit much.
Any link to your Cobra,...those look so fun.

Only a suggestion, since you have a five speed, I would highly suggest you go with a 3.8 for street duty.
I prefer the 3.55s in my 8" for daily driving street duty with my 3.35/.68 T5. :pirate:

Tire diameter comes into play here short tires need less ( numerically ) gear. I recommend "highway rpm" stay around 2,500 in 5th for whatever MPH you want to run at. The 3.40 might be OK.

I daily drove my ‘83 GT with World Class T-5, 8.8” with 3.73’s many years while open tracking it 3-4 times per year. You get acclimated to it. I somewhat DD my ‘66 with TL and 3.5’s at 70MPH at 3500 RPM...with not a worry in the world.
