I thought I had an 8 inch rearend, but a buddy insists that it's a 9. The only numbers that I could find (easily) were on the center section and were as follows:

C7OW
4025A

Anyone know what I have? Knowing my luck, it HAS to be an 8 :(

An easy way to tell is look at the back of the diff housing. The 8 is smooth and almost spherical, with two dimples sometimes. The 9 has a large vertical bulge. Also the overall shape of the 8 is oval where as the 9 is more round. HTH

Wrong numbers. These are casting numbers find the small metal tag behind one of the mounting (thrid member to housing) nuts and post it
