My 66 has a 67 rear 9 inch assembly. The rear wheels are rubbing badly. Can I use the newer wheels which have about a 5 inch backspace to correct this?

Yes, wheels with a deeper offset should correct the problem. Just figure out how much wider the '67 rearend is (not sure myself). With that number compare it the stock width. Divide the difference by 2 and that number will give you an idea on what size of backspacing you can play with.

I put '05 rims (16x7) on my '67 and used 1.25" spacers on each side. If the '67 rear is 2" wider than the '66, you should be able to run an '05 rim with a .25" spacer (or no spacer.) This is something you want to test fit because you don't want the inside of the tire rubbing the springs.

Thanks guys, I've been looking for a Versaille rear, I found a couple for $650 each, I can buy wheel and tires for that, if I like the looks of the shallower wheel.
