Sorry for the diversion away from the early Mustang format, but the g/f's '92 Explorer (6-cyl auto. 92K miles) has recently developed an occasional shutter when going into gear (forw. or back). Motor mount? Tranny? No hablo engines, so I'm looking for more experienced opinions. Thanx!

I used to have a 92 Ranger 4.0 auto... I'd be weary of the transmission; the tranny Ford so wisely chose to put behind the 4.0 is A-1 CRAP! It is the most worthless piece of garbage transmission ever made, it is based on the same tranny that was used in the Pinto. I catastropically blew one out at about 85 or 90K, then I lost the planetary gear on the rebuilt one shortly there after, then at about 115K I blew out most of the gaskets and seals. I'd have the tranny looked at.
