A/C Expansion Valve proper location question

Well I managed to get myself confused with the correct location for the expansion valve on my new evaporator. Looking from in the engine bay one of the two evaporator pipes is higher then the other. I am not sure which one to hook the valve to. 1970 Mustang FB factory A/C 302cid
Any help would be appreciated.

Looking at the diagram it should go to the lower one, which also should be shorter. The temp. bulb attaches to the longer upper one with the metal clip.
