Having a look this arvo at a 66 coupe in boxes. IT'll be a 289 auto for sure
The story is :-
Body is primed ready for paint, bonnet and boot still at panel shop.
Motor still at engine shop.
RHD con. done

Car is dismantled and "everything is there in boxes.
Part of a divorce settlement She is asking A$9700 (US$4850)
I think that car as is , is worth about A$3000-A$5000 here

I'm leaving shortly , any ideas ??

yeah well thanks form all the input. It was a big help.
Just got back from seeing the car.
Very basic car. It's been in pieces through the last 2 owners.
This thing is Totally apart. Who would know what parts are missing.
Body is straight. Really only good for parts now. Too many small bits will have vaporised over the years.
Worth about A$2000.

Hey, Aussie, cut us some slack it's Saturday morning here in the states, and early at that (well, 10:30 in California now, and your post appears to have been around for a couple of hours at least).

$5000 US +/- for a 66 coupe with a 289? That might fly if it were assembled and in good driving shape, but doesn't sound like much of a deal in the condition you've described.

Guess it all depends on what the local marketplace is for Mustangs. Judging from the quality of photos you've posted here this morning, though, doesn't look like it's much of a bargain where you are either.

Too many good looking Mustangs down under to be paying top dollar for a jigsaw puzzle.

I bought my 1968 in perfect running condition with a new engine and a fully rebuilt C4 automatic for $2,700. It needed paint and quite a bit of interior work but the engine/tranny were well worth the price. The PO invested over $11,000 in the car since 1993 (when it started to need repairs) and now I've put $4,500 of my own money into the car since June of 2000
