First, thanks to everyone for the nice words about how my engine rejuvenation project is coming out. Clearly, I could not have done it without the knowledge obtained from this forum.
In that same vain, I think I have the answer to my dilemma regarding having the "correct" belts, but them not fitting. The alternator is a Motorcraft brand, and I suspect has a different pulley diameter than the original alternator. I don't really have an answer for why the P/S pump belt doesn't fit. Oh well, I took AutoXSteve's suggestion andwent and bought longer belts at NAPA. I feel dirty...but at least it will run!
