Always wanting a classic Mustang since I was a teenager and looking for a project to keep me busy over the winter, last fall I purchased a running 68 Sprint B - having little auto experience myself. I never anticipated that one month later I would be staring at a completely stripped car that I was going to repair and rebuild.
I can't lie - I thought about quitting at least a dozen times during the process, once after I caught myself on fire while welding on my back. However, today it was all worth it when I fired her up for the first time after seven months and countless nights / weekends in the garage. It was an amazing feeling just going for a couple short drives listening to the sound of the motor today.
I still have a bunch of things to work thru, but, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone on this forum for their help! The information from past threads and those responding to my posts, trying to help me out has been invaluable. I never could have made it to this stage of the project without your help!
Reading the post my first thoughts were it has 2 best parts .#1 the owner has the satisfaction of knowing he did it
#2 it's another Mustang that will live on WAY past its expected life span.
A WIN-----WIN. !!
Sounds like you're making pretty good progress, since you went from buying, completely stripping it and putting it back together to the point where you can start it up in 7 months!
My friend, 7 months is impressive. Congratulations to you and your hard work. I too recently had that feeling of elation on my first start in 18 months (and I’m full time retired). It gave me the boost of energy to move my project along. I hope the best for you.
