For a long time on this forum I have been hearing about how over-weight the 71-73 Mustangs are.People are saying they weigh in excess of 3,600 pounds..well I had the opportunity to get my big fat '72 Mach One on a scale today..surprise ...surprise..it weighed in at exactly 3,058 pounds..that was with a half tank of gas. I have the original registration when they actually put the weight of a vehicle on there and it says, 3,033..by the way my little tiny Corvette convertible weighs a hefty 3,290 pounds.. :content:

The converts would be the heaviest, how much do they weigh in the 71-73 cars?

The Grandes would be the second heaviest, I would think, with the extra sound deadening and trim.

Something must have been wrong with that scale.

My old 71 sportsroof was 3560. 351C-4V, 4 speed, fold down. 1/2 tank of gas.

My 71 Cougar XR-7 was 3875

I know Cougars are much heavier, but if your sportsroof weighed 3560..there must have been a few dead bodies in the trunk.

Actually now that you mention it..I didn't want to say anything at the CF but you are getting a bit large in the beam. :ba:

No dead bodies. It was a CAT certified scale at the local truck stop. I'll have to run my current 71 across the scales soon, just for comparison.

Some of us have to have the extra payload capacity though.

Hey, pal! You callin' me fat? ;)
No but you're almost as big as you say you are!
Watch it, or I'll make you give me a piggy back ride. No epidural will fix that pain! ;)
