Do the Sanden AC conversions (R-134A) need or use the upper pipe bracket that runs to the rear of the intake manifold? I've looked at a few pictures and it seems to be omitted.

If it can be left off, that would be great, because otherwise it will be in the way of my valve cover side-breather. I can locate the breather anywhere to clear if needed, but I'd rather put it up front...

I have 3 Sanden 134a conversions. The bracket is not used. In fact, I don't know where you could connect it. It was originally used on the Techumsehs and Yorks to minimize vibration (with only moderate success). It connected to one of the top bolt holes on the compressor. Good Luck.

On an 89 5.0 in a 65, running early components, was also able to omit the dogleg. With the Sanden it is unnecessary. Unless a special bracket is made to connnect, it just stands alone looking stupid. Of course the other bracket mentioned above gets lost too. The joys of losing the York or Tecumseh compressors. ::
