I picked up an Accel 300 ignition box cheap, but Accel's instruction and tech site can't tell me if I'll need an adaptor to run it with the stock tach in my 68 Cougar. Has anyone run an Accel 300 box with a stock tach in their Mustang? Did you need an adaptor? How did you wire it?

Most CD ignitions will not support a stock tachometer, as they power the coil directly from the box. The ignition circuit is generally used only for switching of the box. In order for the stock tach to work, it must be power the coil. You will most likely need a tach adapter, which uses the tach output of the CD box to create a signal that the stock tach will interpret. I've only used the MSD adapters and they work very well.
