How feasable is it to add a shaker set up to my mach 1? Ebay has a couple for cobrajet cars that are approaching $12-1500.00 would it cost that much for the 390 or more?

Are there other options?

Hi, are you running the original intake ? Are you willing to pay up to $2500-3000 for a complete set-up on e-bay ? If you're on a budget than i would recommend that you go with a repop...(Ford Ram Air) over in
N-Y has very nice repro shaker set-ups...his name is Leon, very nice man. Bought a repro air cleaner base for my 351W, i just can't seem to find an original one...they are so rare, even on e-bay...
Oh by the way, it's the same shaker unit for both the 390 and 428 engines...Cleveland's and Windsor's are different set-ups, as well as Boss302 Mustangs..

Your also going to need a hood or fill the holes in the one you have. If you take your hood scoop off you will see 2 large holes in the back of the hood where the turn signal lights come up through the hood. Not sure what you could get them filled for but it might be cheaper to find a plain hood and have the hole cut for the shaker.

They are. IIRC Semo and/or Mansfield sells them. Lots of $$$$, though.

I bought the convertion ring that they sell to convert the metal non shaker base to a shaker base from these guys:

I dont know if it will work on a 390 or not (height wise) but on a 351C it works great. Just spot weld or bond the convertion ring to you factory metal base and add the fiberglass shaker. They also sell a metal midplate.

When you are done the only part that is fiberglass is the scoop itself. Heres what mine looked like:

My body man used the pieces of metal from when he cut the shaker hole in the hood to weld into the turn signal holes and you couldnt even tell it was the old hood:

They are in Australia but the have great service and ship quickly. If you want to know more about how its done just let me know.
