I am talking about my C-4 tranny. Everything I have seen says I do not have to drain it unless of major repairs. Or else the fluid should be okay. Any opinions? I was thinking of draining it so I can use a good synth. (Royal Purple is my favorite) fluid but someone also mentioned it might also change the shift patterns because of the sludge that is already in there??

I think you will find that all mfg'ers recommend changing tranny fluid at regular intervals. Your service manual will tell you what the recommended intervals are. I have a 4 speed so I don't have a clue about the auto's /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

AS FAR AS INTERVALS I WOULD DO IT EVERY 24,000 MILES AS FAR AS SYNTHETIC...I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND UNLESS THE TRANS HAS RECENTLY BEEN REBUILT...SYNTHETIC IS A MUCH FINER OIL AND IF YOU PUT IT IN SOMETHING THAT IS OLD/WORN YOU WILL NOTICE ALOT OF LEAKS IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
