I have been trying to find a round "MUSTANG" air cleaner that is black with the ridges that are polished but it looks like no one sells them anymore. My next option it the oval air cleaner. I have the maier shock tower brace and a 289/edelbrock intake and carb. I am wondering if the air cleaner is going to clear the brace and dist as big as it is. I am curious if anyone has tried this, or seen them together... OR know where I can get the round cleaner new or used?

Here is the brace and air cleaner.

The Maier brace should actually have a little MORE clearance than the stock-style export brace...

Yeah it should. It actually mounts up on the lip. So the back should be fine. Now I wonder about the front...

Call Maier and ask - you CAN'T be the first person to have tried this...

Although of no help to the OP, I can tell you from personal experience the following:

67 + 351W + Edelbrock RPM Performer manifold + oval air cleaner pictured above DOES NOT fit with the stock-style one-piece stamped export brace (rear of the oval air cleaner interferes with the export brace considerably.

I bet that Maier unit would work though. But for now I'm sticking with my curved monte carlo bar and flimsy OEM shock-tower to firewall braces.
