I can't figure out how this Alternator bracket goes together, so I think I'm going to buy a repro.

My only concern, is there ever a need for a stronger bracket because of mods?

My mods (289 2v):

Bored .030
Port & Polished Heads
Weiand High rise Intake Manifold
Holley 600 carb
Medium Cam
LT Headers
Flowmasters (40 series Dual Chamber Delta Flow

I'm not sure what mods you can add that need support from the alternator bracket. :: As far as I know, only the alternator uses that bracket.

Mine isn't even close to the originial. I don't know where the hell it came from, it was on the car when given to me:

Ok, NOW I understand *LOL*

The lower one looks like for a '70/later SBF.

I now like your other idea of buying repro ones. What engine is it going on, and what water pump? If it's for a '69/earlier SBF with the WP inlet on the passenger side, the repro ones work very well. Anything else, you'll have to find used ones.
