ok, i'm media blasting the alternator case, fan, and pulley on my '65. this is the original unit and the fan and pulley appear to have originally been blue, is this right? i thought they are supposed to be black.
also, what is the proper way to finish the stator(that ribbed belt area around the 'equator' of the alternator case?
wanna get this right.
thanks!

Try this site. I just purchased one of their units for my 70 Mach 1. Looks great. http://www.amkproducts.com/alternators.asp

7TFord.
according to "How To Restore Your Mustang" by Larry Dobbs & Donald Farr 1965-1968 Mustang Detailing calls for Chassis Black for fan and fan pulley and alternator should be painted a low luster, clear finish to prevent corrosion. I painted my alternator, which was not previously protected and in ugly condition that could not be cleaned to my satisfaction, an aluminum color and it looks good to me.
