i have a set of aluninum slots that look faded and whiteish in apperance are there any ways to restore these or refinish them myself

You could polish them with Wenol, Mothers, TheWaxShop, or other metal polish.

The best way would be to take them to your freindly neiborhood chrome shop and have them polished. I did this a couple of years ago and they charged me $20 a wheel. They looked better then new when done. Maby it's just that I hate polishing wheels, it's so much work by hand and they just don't ever come out as good.

Look in the yellow pages under "Metal finishing" and you should find any that are in your local area.
