I got my carpet in from Cal-mustang. I accedently ordered the Convertible carpet instead of Coupe. Anyways, You know the rubber mat under the feet of the driver. Well there is a rubber mat strip running on the right hand side of the rubber floor mat up the hump to the front of the car. 2 questions. 1 - What is this for, and 2 - The carpet on my coupe does not have this strip of rubber mat on it. Is it suppose too, did the PO put in different carpet ?

Any input would be great. Thanks

It sounds like a "toe guard"to protect the carpet from excessive wear from the driver's right shoe side as it rests against the gas pedal/trans tunnel. The inlaid pad under the foot is called a "heel guard" and is standard IIRC. I'm not sure when/why some car's have a toe guard. My 69 does not have it with an installed Mach carpet.
