Another picture posting tip

Cougar's post a few posts back got mixed reviews---some people (including me) said they could not see the pics he posted, others said they look just fine.

So I viewed the HTML page source and found out why: It's fallout from the Microsoft vs. Netscape war.

Cougar posted links to two images: http://members.clnk.com/bowers/new ms kitty 4.jpg and http://members.clnk.com/bowers/new ms kitty 6.jpg

The filenames have spaces in them, which Microsoft's Internet Explorer allows but Netscape does not. If you paste those URLs into IE, the pictures show up fine. But if you try to view them in Netscape, you get broken-picture images. If you click on the links in Cougar's message using Netscape, you get a server error message.

So, if you want us Netscapers to see your pics, don't put spaces in the filename. If you don't care....PHBLTTTT!!! to you, too. :) Just kidding, but we won't all get to see your car, which is why you're posting the pic in the first place, presumably.

Thanks Jerry...good tip..

I always FTP everything to the servers that host my web site and they won't accept file names with spaces, certain characters, etc...

Leftovers from the Unix days, I imagine...

It's a new world out there...*G*

Wayne:

I looked at the HTML source of your test reply to see if I could figure out why your link doesn't work.

The HREF tag is not formed correctly in your page source. It looks like this---HREF="http://link"---when the word "link" should actually be your URL.

In your profile, how did you specify the URL? It should be like this: {url}www.your_website{/url} (except use square brackets, not braces; I had to use the braces so it wouldn't get displayed as a link). Don't include "http://" in your link; that will be added by the system.
