Hi all,
I had John who is working on my car measure the rear drums and pads yest. for me. He said they are 10"x2". I guess someone in the past upgraded from the 10x1.75's. Not complaining!
However, my friend at the local autostore can get eveything for me except the hardware and adjuster kits. He said he doesn't list the kits for 10x2's but only 10x1.75's. I assume I can't use the small kits for the 10x2's. Am I gonna have a hard time finding the larger kits?

tia,

Have your friend check the intermediate and full size models for the same diameter (eg Fairlane/Torino, Galaxie), especially the wagons. You might find the 10x2's there. GL

Man! Those 10x2 brake drums must not be common! The 10x1.75's from most Stang places want about $40/drum and the 10x2's at my local shop wants $80/drum!! Even the online parts places want about $80 for thr 10x2's!
Those were the old ones on the car so I guess I need to put the same ones back on!

Mike,

I just thought I'd drop you a note to say hello - I'm originally from White Plains (born in Tarrytown) but now living in Houston. It's nice to see some NYers on here!

I hear those 68 GT 390 Benches are really rare - There is a girl (only 17 or 18) down here in Houston that shows her 68 GT 390 Bench 4sp all the time. From what I recall on her website, only a handful were made. Do you have info on the actual production numbers?

Take care,
Aaron

Believe you will find that while the standard linings are 1-3/4 inch, the standard rear drums measure 2 inches. That is the way they are designed, it's not a mis-match.

Hi Charles,
So did I order the wrong stuff!!?
I had John working on my car measure the drums and he said they were 10x2. I ordered that size drums, shoes and wheel cylinders for a Mustang in '68. My friend had them listed in his catalog at the autostore under Stang. Then for the 10x2 size adjusters and hardware kits, he needed to go to Fairlane to find that size but he said the shoe # matched up to the same as the one for Stang.

thanks,
Mike
