I just got an Edelbrock 1406 carb to replace my leaky Holley manual choke 600. I have the stock A code 289 in my 4-speed 66 GT with an Edelbrock 289 Intake. Anybody got a pic of a similar install. Any tips for the install? What kind of spacer do I need if any. Thanks!

I don't have a pic, I did use a 1/2" Phonolic (SP?) spacer, between the Carb and the Intake, to help with starting when hot. I also removed the plug in the back of the Carb and screwed in a nipple, to run my PCV tube in the back, and plugged the front hole.

Well here's one on a 302, but it's not in the car.

the PO somehow mangles the pedal arm and linkage to make it work, was plain ugly. When it goes back in I'm sticking a 1/2in spacer under it and an adjustable linkage.

Here's some pics of the 1405 (same carb, just different jetting) on my 289. They were really taken to show the linkage, but that's the only part that will cause you any greif. I'm using the Mr. Gasket Universal Carb. bushing ($5 from Summit), and the original linkage, with the 90 degree bend on the end cut off. Like already mentioned, you can put a nipple on the back of the carb for the PCV valve and plug the one on the front for a cleaner installation.

Don't worry about the cable towards the bottom of the linkage, as that's the TV cable for the AOD transmission. You won't need that, if you're not running an AOD.

Click on the pics for a larger version.

Search my posts and look for "Edelbrock".

You'll find one with a link to pictures of one installed on my 289. I filed on the linkage a little bit so I could use the stock clip and rod.
