Looks like I'll have the cash to do my tranny along with the new motor. I was thinking of just getting my C4 rebuilt locally but I don't know how good the local shops are so I'm thinking getting a C4 from TCI since it's designed to handle a lot of HP. Anyone running a C4 from TCI? How do you like it?

Their converters work pretty well so....*G*

IMO, have a reputable local shop do the rebuild....that way warranty service and someone to strangle for a botched job is close at hand....

The C4 in the race car is just a home-built blueprinted stocker...with a full manual shift kit....

I thought of that. It would really suck to have to pull and mail a tranny if there are problems. I suppose the shop could use the TCI kit and their hardened input shaft and stuff.

What's the app?....from the looks of your sig line....it's a moderate HP app...
You'll likely not need any expensive parts....

FWIW- I've got nearly 1000 passes on the stock 24 spline input in the C4 in the race car....guess I better keep a piece of wood in the car to knock on...*G*

The new motor is a 5.0 with an F303 cam ([email protected] .512/.512), KB pistons, peened stock rods, TFS Heads, Sanderson headers, Speed Demon Carb eventually, when I put it in I'll probably run it with a Holley 750 Double pumper a friend gave me and see how that works. This is mainly my daily driver but I'm sure I'll take it to Sears Point a few times and see what my times are.

Sounds a lot like my old street racer...
You should see mid high 13's with some tuning...

Think twice before going to a double pumper....a good vacuum secondary carb is much more forgiving in the tuning department with an automatic and your gearing...

I still prefer my old 3310 Holley on the race car.....reliable and consistent over varying atmospheric and track conditions...

Well-built stock C4 will work fine for you....converter in the 3000-3500 rpm range should be a good compromise between performance and street-ability...

Good luck! And post those times when you get to the track...
