I ordered a kit from canadian mustang, and they say that 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder u bolts are the same size for 65 mustangs, is this true,? I need U bolts for a granada rear end and was told by someone that 66 mustang 8" rear U bolts would fit for this application

You might find this to be interesting reading...although geared towards Falcon enthusiasts, the information should be helpful. Remember, the Mustang is a bird in pony's clothing..*G*

Yes, 6 and 8 cylinder U bolts are the same. All 65/66 U bolts are the same, 8 inch or 9 inch rear ends.
To bolt the Granada rear end in your car, you will need larger U bolts and the shock mount plates to go with them also, as the housing is a larger diameter than in the 65/66 mustangs.

You can use the original spring plates, but you have to open the hole up by drilling a new hole and using a die grinder to oblong them. Mustangs Plus has done this for years on their race cars.
