My girlfriend made me promise to add to this thread once I told her about it. I'm a plain old Yank (Ok, 1/4 Cannuk) but she is 1/2 Aussie, 1/2 Kiwi and LOVES Mustangs (thanks to me).

She sends a 'hello' to all the Aussies on here. She also included a fair amount of lingo I can only assume to be Yank bashing as she misses Auckland and Brisbane but I've choosen to edit that out :)

I'm not an aussie, but I'm curious, do the old mustangs there have right hand controls?

92 olds supercharged touring sedan (big mama's)
ranger 4x4-66 mustang coupe
78 honda cb 750 ( restoring ) it's done!
We have an interstate Rugby League Football competition where players represent their State of Origin so if you were born here I reckon that qualifies. The falling down drunk bit is also a National pastime,so look's like your in."G"
BTW that chook look's a bit crook!!

Ford,Australia, imported a few cars from 66-69 & did a factory conversion, but most were privately imported & changed to RHD.Recenty government leglislation now allows full rego on LHD vehicles over 30 years old,& prior to that you could get Club rego which restricted your driving to club associated events or getting repairs.A few of our club members have LHD concourse cars but most are RHD.It's now a personal choice.AUSSIETIM's in the police force here & could fill you in on the legals better than I.

Hi John. another aussie here ! good to have contact 'ith me fair dinkum beer drinkin' mates !!! ..jeezs.. pass another VB sport.. BTY aussies don't drink and drive.....we hate spilling our drinks !!.. On the right hand drive rule we have been forced to adopt here in australia. I didn't think that i would see the day when we would be able to leave our treasured mustangs as they were built at the factory. When we found our mach 1 a few years ago i decided not to convert to right side steering regardless if we could drive it or not. Well , now we can !!!!!! By xmas our 428 will be giving a few of the 'rice burners' around here in the western suburbs of Sydney a bit of a hurry up..!!!!!! Larry

Greg,
I was under the impression that Ford imported Mustangs 65-66 to promote the XR falcon. and some were converted at Broadmedows by ford and others were farmed out to local shops.
I 've been told by reliable sources that the conversions were pretty ****ful.
Any way, simalar to your info!!!!

A mate here has a '69 Royal Maroon Mach1 with the factory conversion & it does'nt look real flash when you have a close look.Reckon they just slapped some Falcon steering components in there!Seems a bit mushy to drive, but to be fair,it's totally original & I don't think John's replaced anything since it came from the factory.
Jeff Speegle has the exact number of cars Ford (Aus) imported but the post was in the old forum & I did'nt save it.
