'68 autolite 4300 on a 302. The choke clean air pick-up tube(tube coming out of the carb at the top rear area), what does it connect to? Anyone have pics or a diagram?

If it goes to the exhaust manifold area, with shorty headers what would it go to?

Right behind the secondaries is a horizontal tube.That is the clean air pickup. It attaches to the stove pipe with a small piece of hose. The stove pipe then goes to the passenger side exhaust manifold bottom. Returning from the top of the manifold, the heated air pipe (covered in the insulation) goes to the center of the choke spring cap. You guessed it, they are special caps not attainable at the local parts store.

With shorty headers you could just get some metal tubing and put a few wraps around a pipe before returning to the carb, or you could just install an electric choke and cap off the clean air pick up.

Most reliable and simple would be the electric choke.
Wrapping the choke tube around the header will work, but would look a bit odd IMO. Also can be a trick to get it to seat fully against the header tubing and not rattle or anything. If you do this, be sure to wrap the choke tube in the asbestos type cloth for heat retention.
