My Auto Transmission "T" Handle is loose and rotates. I tried tightening the set screw at the base of the handle, but it will not tighten up. It feels like it will tighten, then just as it gets a little tighter, it suddenly becomes loose again. Do I need to replace the set screw?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Mordi

And you should get a t-lock from Hal to go with your new set screw ::

Whisperer (Hal) and his company Vintage-Automotive.com sells a very trick t-handle that you can lock so the car can't be taken out of gear without the key. It's a nice security feature, that I have in my 3 running Mustangs.

I had the same problem with mine. I think the threads in the handle get stripped. I even bought a new, longer set screw which worked exactly 2.8 seconds (until I used the shifter). So I followed Johnpro's advice and sent a check off to Hal for the T-lok.

johnpro,

That t-lok looks pretty nifty!

How do you install it?

I wonder if it includes a new set screw? ::
