I have a Schauer 10 amp Battery charger that has 6/12 volts.
I bought it 15 years ago. Its has solid state circuitry.
There is a 3-position switch that has "A u t o m a t i c" written along the right side from the top of the switch to the bottom. On the left side it says:
Conventional (top)
Manual (center)
Maintenance Free (bottom)
My question is what's the difference between the 3 positions?
The amp meter goes nearly to zero when a battery is charged no matter the switch position. My lead acid aircraft battery is showing 1/2 amp on "conventional", 2 amps on "manual" and 1 1/2 amps on "maintenance free".
