Please do not use this method to test the alternator. For one, by pulling the negative cable off the battery, there usually is a spark. If the battery is charging, hydrogen gas is produced. Remember the Hindenburg blimp? Secondly, you can easily blow the diodes of the alternator by removing the battery from the circuit.

Promise me you won't do this....OK?

ok mid i promise but was frustrated and that was in the process while I was tryin to find problem.

Take your car to Autozone or CrapBoys and have the charging system tested for free, usually installed in the car. If that doesn't isolate the problem, then a competent auto electrical shop can usually determine the problem for $40-$50.
