Took the Stang to the 1/8th mile drags yesterday and in the semi-final round I came up against a 68 Cougar with a 393 stroker. Nice car, very nice motor. Even though both of us had serious traction issues it was a fun race with me putting him on the trailer. I ran a 8.4 with him running a 9.1. Guess what my next purchase is going to be? Slicks. Even my SWMBO couldn't understand why I haven't gotten them sooner. Maybe with luck the car will be in the sevens soon.

Was that a bracket race or grudge race (heads up)?

IME, as the race car runs the 660 splits in 7.20 or so, you'll likely need some suspension/chassis work to consistently get into the 7's. As my car is a 1/4 mile car, it's a bit easier on suspension/tires because I don't run as much gear or as loose a converter as a 1/8 mile car...I've often wondered how it would do in the 1/8 with a 5K stall converter and 6.50's...*G*

Have fun!
