I have a few questions about belts used on Mustangs. How do you determine what is the proper/correct belt versus a service replacement belt? I have a few JB/JC belts that are embossed and date coded. These appear to be correct, but are they just service replacement belts or are they the same as a factory original belt? If I used service replacement belts in the throughbred class would I get points deducted?

Depends on when the belt was made. If you want it to be Thoroughbred correct, the date code would have to fall within an acceptable range before the build date of the car.

Also, the markings must be correct. There are variations from embossed, debossed to ink-stamped.
