....and he dropped off my new heads. Now to take them down to the machine shop for studs, guides, maybe some porting and polishing, etc....

Too bad I don't have a block I can bolt them too yet...hopefully soon though ;)

Wow... you dare waste your time with OLD STOCK CAST IRON heads?! How stupid are you!? :) Dont you know you can get nifty new aftermarket Windsor heads that only cost 3 times as much!?

I say.. Get the best of both worlds.. Put those Cleveland heads on a windsor block.. ::

Nick.. Make sure they check these heads out and are sure they have no cracks..

You'll get mostly agreement on that comment... you know it's like sticking with the 260 instead of just going all the way with a 302. When it comes to "restomods" a significant element is maximizing the car within stock appearances, therefor in that regard a 390 does not compute just like a 260 would not.

I believe Nascar engines are closer to Bosses.. C styled heads on windsor style blocks.. sorta... kinda.. maybe... I dunno

Now I'm confused.
We were talking earlier about the -AA heads and how they came with smaller valves.
You said not to worry since the were coming from a race shop and were prepped.
Having to put in guides, convert to studs, and port doesn't sound prepped. Sounds like what I have in the back room.
What did you end up with?

I have a nice set of heads the way I asked for them.
2.19 and 1.71 valves 4v open.

I have 90% of the other stuff, and since I am going to have my local shop do a lot of stuff to them, I figured I would save paying double coin.
