Well after weeks of waiting my Boyd Coddingtons have finally arrived at my doorstep. Here's the dilemna... I placed the order for (2) 17x8s with 5.25 backspacing and (2) 17x7s with 4.25 backspacing. Well the 17x7s show up with 4.5 backspacing ... however it does appear that they will work anyway. On to the bigger potential problem.

I ordered Smoothie 2s not the original Smoothies and this is what the box says:

So now I am worried. And I cannot tell from the picture on the Boyd Coddington site if I have the originals or the Smoothie 2s. So if anyone has either wheel can you tell from these pictures if I have the 2s or not?

The pictures on the BC site are tough but I can note that the opening for my valve stem is not like the picture of the Smoothie (original) on their site:

Help me out so I can get some sleep... TIA

Looks like a smoothie 2 to me. Check the lip that seems to run behind the spokes on the smoothie 2 and looks like from the pictures your wheel has the same lip. The original smoothie looks like that lip runs even with the spokes. I think you have the correct wheel. Also your box says 5.25 backspacing...is it a missprint?

They are Smoothie 2s (thank you). Now onto dilemna 2 ... what frickin' lug nuts can I use with these so I don't chew them up or rely on finger tight installs /forums/images/icons/wink.gif!

Never mind about the backspacing...the box in the pic is for the 17 X 8 wheels and you said the 17 X 7s were the messed up ones.

Since some of you have heard of BC, did you know that the first Vintage Burgandy paint job on my Mustang was done by none other than Boyd C. himself. /forums/images/icons/cool.gif OK this was when he still lived in Cypress (can you say the city that Tiger grew up in) and worked at Disneyland as an engineer while restoring hot rods in his garage. fd

that I hadn't rearended that car and had to have the front end repainted. They did a real good job, but I could always tell. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif So the current VB paint is the second one for me, and if you count the factory candy apple red on the bottom she now has 4 coats of paint on at least half of her. /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif fd

Jay: As some others have noted, The difference in the Smoothie 1 and 2 is the outer rim. If you look at the website, it tells about the differences....
Now, go to sleep...Good night.

When you find lugnuts that work let me know. I have been looking for lugnuts that work since feb. I guess it is a good thing my stang doesn't run/forums/images/icons/wink.gif. BTW those are Smoothie II.
