Hello All

65 Mustang restoration

I have two iron braces that bolt to the rear frame rail ( near the rear leaf spring ). They bolt to the bottom of the frame rail and to the inside of the frame rail.

They hang between the mufflers and rear leaf spring. They have a hole in the bracket, and I wasn't sure what function they have?

I cannot seem to find the parts in the NPD book. Do they have a name?

Any help is appreciated. Matt

Shipping plates. They were used to attach the car to the train car or truck for delivery to a dealer. They are not required, they were "supposed" to be removed by the dealer before the delivery to the original owner. Some dealers just blew-off taking them off the car.

We talked about these recently. Do a search on the forums for 'Tie Down Brackets' and you will find out a lot about them.

Considering Ford was paying like $5 for dealer prep, I don't blame them.
