I have a 67 Mustang inline 6 200cc. I am doing a full engine rebuild. This is my first restoration project. I have a couple of oil questions

1. What type of oil should I use for breaking in the engine ?
2. Once the engine broken in, what type of oil should I use ?

thanks

You should be fine with regular 10W/30 oil with a can of Lucas Oil ZDDP for break in. After that you can continue to use that or change to Mobil 1 15W/50. It has plenty of ZDDP.

BTW, your going to get probably 1000 opinions on this topic. Do a search.

I use Brad Penn break in oil on my V8 engines. Happy with it so far; it came recommended by a local engine builder who specializes in racing engines

that’s what I have used on my last 2 builds as well and haven’t had any complaints with it!
