Sold my 48,xxx mile Wimbledon white '67 350GT w/toploader to a west coast person. Since I don't want to be without a horse for too long I'm looking at a very cherry '66 289 hipo GT conv. Any hints or suggestions from convertible owners?

Do the "water test" to check cowl rust, and if possible, check the torque boxes thoroughly.
I would also try too check the GT/Hipo combination, since many of the cars around are fakes.
