Hello,

I am in the middle of rebuilding my C4. It's a '68 C4 with D21 shift pattern.I just cleaned up the valvebody and there is one thing i don't know what to do with.

In the upper valve body there was one puck/disc valve and a checkball in a bathtub shaped area. This seems allright to me.

In the lower valve body was no checkball, but there was bathtub shaped area where one could fit!
See pic below:

Does anyone know what this checkball does? And what the effect is of putting one in or leaving it out?
The tranny has shifted fine without this checkball, maybe the 2-3 shift could be a tad firmer but that could be because of loose clutchpacks. Should i put one in or leave it out?
Thanks for your help!

In my Bad Shoe Productions C-4 Rebuilding DVD... It says leaving this out just causes a firmer shift.

Email him and he will answer your question for sure.
