I was replacing my tranny yesterday and it got hung up on the tranny kickdown lever that comes off the gas pedal arm at the firewall. The lever now spins on the pedal shaft. My guess is that this was tack welded onto the arm and I just need to get it re-tacked. The question is - how far should the throttle be open before the lever starts operating the kickdown linkage? Hope this makes sense.

TIA
John

Hi John, I am currently Installing a throttle and kick down lever in my stang so I checked it out for you. If you weld it back on so it runs straight up and down with the top arm that connects to your carburator linkage you,ll be fine . Any ajustment can be made in the cable as far as how far your throttle opens before it kicks down into passing gear hope this helps Rick

Spins on the gas pedal rod in the engine compartment on the firewall. What I need to know is how much throttle movement before the kickdown actually engages.

Thanks
