Wondering how difficult it is to change the shaft seal where the neutral safety switch enters the tranny, C4 1969, hooked up to a 302? We have various and assorted leaks, this is one and changing the pan gasket will be a no-brainer, just not sure how hard this shaft's seal is. My shop manual doesnt really show a clear picture of it, can it be changed from the outside, or is it done from the inside somehow? Any suggestions will be appreciated. TIA

It's easy if the pan's off. Pull the valve body. There's a large nut holding the selector shaft in. remove the shaft, install the seal, re-assemble... Viola!

I ditto the previous info. I replaced mine about a year ago, worst part was all of the pan bolts. I has to disconnest the linkage, and pull the NSS to get enough moving room, but it swapped out very easily.
