Hello I have a 289 with a Edelbrock Torker II cam. I want to change the Intake from a Toker II intake
for driveability. I just bought a 4100 Autolite Carb and was wondering which Intake to go to? A 1965 Ford
4v stock intake (will that hurt the engine with the torker II cam?) or should I just go with an Edelbrock
Performer Intake?? I am really just looking for some pleasure driving with some power for fun. Thanks

DO NOT use the Performer with an Autolite 4100!!!

Thin flanges = vacuum leaks.

The Performer RPM or Weiand Stealth both work well with the 4100, or use a stock iron 4V intake. These have wider mounting flanges than the regular performer.

Good point..

Could he use one if he put a 1/2" phenolic spacer between the manifold and carb? If the tolerances were tight, it should seal up, yes?

Hi,
Tell us a bit more about your combo...and driving style and intended use for the car...
I'm particularly interested in the rest of the engine components, trans type and rear gear ratio, in addition to the other things requested....

Thanks the engine is a 289 bored .030 with some larger intake and exhaust valves and hardened seats.
I have just a stock C4 trans. The rear axle is than standard axle with a 65 2 barrel coupe. The car is
really my dads that I am redoing for him. So it is really only going to be driven to church and the ice-cream store.

In that case, I'd just go with the stock C/I 4V intake or maybe a Cobra reproduction manifold...an Edelbrock F4B would be a nice touch if you can find one...

I have a stock D-code shortblock in my 64.5 and have a 4100, original Cobra intake and JBA shorties and have plenty of power and good gas mileage to boot....

You'll see them at most Mustang or Ford swap meets...

Occasionally one will come up on eBay...Here's an example of one which sold there recently...sorry, the pix are gone...

Ah, Here's another that still has a pic up....

good luck!
