The Z in the part numbers stands for Mustang as I understand it. The D1 numbers are from a 71 and the C8 from a 68.

It is the third position letter which determines the car line, here it is "A" which would be full size Ford or Galaxie applications that these parts were originally destined for.I believe the "Z" here would be for designating item as service part, that fourth position had different meaning at different times in the various part number arrangements.
